Bugs, Signature

Adding and Deleting new signatures in Email Signature iPad Edition

We found our first bug!

If you upgrade to premium, there should be an Edit and + button at the top of the signature list to allow you to edit/delete a signature or add a new one. These buttons are missing after the upgrade.

To restore the buttons, close the app and restart it and the buttons should reappear.

Recipient cannot see attachment when pasting signature into email

Recently it came to notice via one of our users that if you use an app like iBooks to send an attachment and then paste the signature, the recipient was not able to see the attachment when the email arrives in their email client. And if you can see the attachment, tapping on the attachment doesn't allow you to save it to iBooks but save as image.

We have confirmed that this is generic issue with IOS 5.1.1 and not specific to Signature. Attachments showed as images. Here's what we have managed to figure out.

Cannot launch Apple Mail from Signature Pro

UPDATE: 5 April 2012 - there is a update in the Appstore with the bug fix and is available for download

We have verified that there is a bug in the latest release of Signature Pro that prevents a user from launching Apple Mail within the app.

A fix has been submitted to Apple for approval.

Apologies to all our users for the inconvenience.

Question mark appears where the image should be

UPDATE: 18 January 2012 - Issue has been resolved. There are no longer any problems uploading images.

17 January 2012,

The server we were using to allow users to upload photos has suffered a severe hardware issue. The ISP has spent the whole day installing new hardware and restoring the software from backups.

Note: this situation does not affect any images that were previously uploaded. They are not served from this server. This only affect users who are trying to upload new images.

We believe the restore process will probably be finished early morning 18 January 2012.

Signature Lite and Pro will be update for IOS 4.2 shortly

Due to some changes in IOS 4.2 and the Apple Mail app, we have submitted an update that addresses how to insert a signature into the emails that you reply to or forward. Currently any application opening Apple Mail will open a new compose dialog and close any already open email that you are editing. Unfortunately there is no way around this. The Reply / Forward button will be replaced with a Copy To Clipboard button, i.e.

Signature Pro, custom image issues

The custom image is not created properly for Signature Pro ver 3.1 on iPhones with OS 4.0 or higher. We have resolved this and submitted an update to Apple. It should be available for download in about a week.

Signature Lite, clipboard issues

There is an issue with the latest update to Signature Lite version 3.1 as of 27 August 2010. The copy to clipboard feature does not work some iPhones in particular 4.0.

An update has been submitted to Apple to address this issue. We expect it to be release in about a week.

How to add your signature to reply or forwarded emails on iPad and iPhone 4.0 (IOS4) - (4.2 update)

Latest update 6-Dec-2010 - we have submitted an update to Apple address this issue, Click here for more details

Important notice for iPhone 4.0 or later and iPad
Unlike previous versions, it is not possible to directly insert a signature into an email that you are replying or forwarding in iPhone 4.0 (IOS4) or iPad. Apple has changed the Mail app so that all inserts will always launch a new email in compose mode. This is not a bug in our software, just some functionality that is not supported in the Mail app anymore.

To insert a signature into an email you are replying or forwarding, paste the signature from your clipboard. Each time you insert the signature through the Signature app, it will also add the signature to your clipboard. Subsequently, you can just paste the signature from the clipboard. (This also works for new emails too). There is no need to start the signature app each time as long as you don't overwrite the clipboard contents or you don't need to switch signatures. (Note: Prior to 4.2, the reply or forward email being edited remained open for you to paste your signature, this is no longer the case in 4.2 - see note below).

Note: we only copy one signature at a time to the clipboard, the Mail app does not know how to choose from multiple signatures if we copied more than one to the clipboard.

iPhone 4.2 update
We noticed that with the latest iPhone 4.2 update, when you tap on reply or forward emails in Email Signature Pro, the Mail app is launched and a new compose screen is shown. If you have an already reply or forwarded email opened for editing, it is closed by the Mail app and a new compose screen is shown. This is a change from previous versions of the iPhone OS where the open reply or forward email remained intact so you could paste your signature in the email. (This is incidently now consistent with how the Mail app works on the iPad.)

Unfortunately all 3rd party apps are affected by this new Mail app behavior and we have no control over what happens when the Mail app is launched by our app.

The behavior of Signature insertion in new emails is unaffected.

What it means is that users who wish to add a signature to a reply or forwarded email must first go to the Email Signature Pro app and get their signature (if it is not already on the clipboard) and then when the Mail app is launched, remove the compose screen to get to their email they want to reply or forward. We wish there was a better and will continue to look for one.

Signature - Facebook integration

Recently Facebook changed the way anyone accessing public pages on Facebook via their iPhone. Anyone trying to access a public profile page with a claimed name is prompted with a login page. Apparently, they require you to login before accessing these pages. However, while the url they create suggests that they take you to the page you requested after logging in, they do not do so.

There are blue borders around the hotlinks when I receive a signature

*** Bug fix included in next release ***

Some browsers will put a blue border around images. We have submitted a fix for this and it will be available automatically in the next update.
